This is why I go commando 24/7. I wore the briefs that Mom bought for me until I was in my early teens. Then one day while shopping for clothes, my parents suggested that I begin wearing boxer shorts like Dad wore. They explained that briefs were for boys, but men were supposed to wear boxers. So I began wearing boxer shorts. Boxer shorts were definitely more comfortable than briefs, and I wore them for decades. There were drawbacks to wearing boxers - riding up, bunching up under trousers and jeans, hanging out from under walking shorts, etc. Then I began to question the need for wearing boxers. They provided no support. I concluded that boxer shorts were merely an easily washable pants liner. The washable liner was needed in the days when most dress pants had to be dry cleaned and it was a chore to launder and press slacks at home. Back then, people bathed once or twice and the pants liners were a necessity. Today, we have casual dress codes at work and pants such as Dockers can be washed and worn right out of the clothes dryer. Most people shower daily. Thus there is no real need for washable pants liners (boxer shorts). When I look back to the time that my parents suggested that I switch to wearing boxer shorts, I realize what they were actually telling me - Boys are supposed to wear briefs and grown men are supposed to hang free. But you have to wear boxer shorts as a pants liner to keep the cleaning bills down. Does that make sense.

My usual underwear is a Jockey brand bikini brief. Boxers just seem pointless to me. What do they do? If you say, "To keep your pants clean," you need to learn some hygiene. For me, it is tighter underwear, or nothing at all. I usually wear bikini briefs because I do a lot of mountain biking and BMXing. Let's suffice to say that a loose scrotum and the constant moving on and off the seat, just don't mix well. Have you ever sat on your own balls? If not, for the love of god don't try it. I also wear thongs and g-strings on occasion. It just depends on what's clean. Most of my swimwear consists of thongs and strings. I find that most people who say it must be uncomfortable, either never tried it, or did but wore the completely wrong fit. Most people who act disgusted by a man in a thong, seem to be very self-absorbed and only conscious of what the media tells them to think.
