I have no affiliation with any religion, so my knowledge is limited, but I can say that I did know a preachers daughter that was really into mutual masturbation, and a minister's son that didn't let anything get in his way. I do understand that the Catholics don't say that they do it (hehe), but we all know better. I do understand that the Mormons say that they don't do it, but we can't say anything there either (ahh ha.) Then we get to the Musselems (sp). We know they can't do it, but I'm sure they try. All the kidding aside, a human being is on the face of this earth to multiply. If there is no way to multiply, there there has to be a form of relief, and that is called masturbation. Case closed for the season. Do religous views on masturbation affect me? Only when the stupidity that trolls along behind it pops up out of the water and tries to force guilt onto people.

Listen everybody. The answer you are looking for about this question is in your heart. God put that answer there so that you wouldn't have to come to a webpage like this to look for one. The problem you are having is that you are trying to find away around what your heart is telling you about it. Don't listen to what other people have to say, because most of the time that will take you down the wrong path. Listen to what God is trying to tell you through your conscience. He will never misguide you or put you in harms way. It's not easy and the right thing to do sometimes isn't. It takes practice, but after a while you teach yourself better habbits and you become better at doing the right thing. So, look no further than your own conscience when you are faced with a difficult question. God bless you all and may each of you find your way.

I'm a Catholic male, in my 40's and have a Sacramental marriage of 20 years.----As any good Catholic should know, masturbation is sinful, serious and gravely disordered, more so for the male than the female, due to the loss of seed. The sinfulness of masturbation can be lessened by maturity, habit and other factors.----Within marriage, masturbation, oral stimulation, in fact, virtually any form of foreplay, can be given or received, solo or mutually, before, during or after intercourse, as desired, but intercourse MUST be completed in the normal way, that is, the semen must be injected into the vagina. The marital act is to promote unity and procreation, so therefore, must always remain open to life, meaning no artificial birth control.----It is sinful for either the husband or wife to refuse a serious request for the marital act without good reason. In the case of adultery, the innocent spouse may, at their option, refuse the marital act. The innocent spouse may enforce this, forever if that is what they want, but it is usually good for the marriage to forgive. Granting intercourse forgives the guilty spouse and 'renews' the marriage.----Only death ends the marriage, so even if a couple is civilly divorced, they are still married in God's eyes. Any subsequent 'marriage' is not a 'true' marriage and only results in adultery. In other words, no sex with anyone but your spouse, until death. That's a pretty compelling reason for both to figure out a way to 'make it work'.----As hard as it is to control solo masturbation to completion, one should do the best they can. Masturbation allows one to 'manage' their sexuality, and greatly reduces the natural desire for intercourse with one's wife, or husband, thereby diminishing their importance.

As far as I know, there is no reference to masturbation in the Bible. I do not know about other holy books of other religions. I never did connect religion to masturbation. I am a Unitarian Universalist, a very liberal and affirming faith. Nothing is considered evil so long as no one is hurt in any way. Thus, my religion will accept and even encourage masturbation--as well as gay rights, including gay marriage.

I am 41 and a widower. I was talking to a 22 yr old street preacher, same age as my boy, who was part of a religous missionary group. We got to talking sex and then masturbation. I told him I jack off daily. He said he did also, but he said the bible is against it even tho he couldn't prove it. The upshot of our conversation led us to jack off each other. It was a very erotic experience for us both. The group was staying at a nearby motel for a week and that is where we jacked each other. We masturbated each other every day for a week and on the last day we sucked off each other. That was a first for us both.

Yes, masturbation is a mortal sin. Learned theologians would be able to convey this truth in a way that I am not intelligently "graced" to do, nor have the space in this survey to fully provide. However, I do know that it is not just the "mechanics" of the act that make it sinful, i.e. the spilling of life creating sperm or wasted sexual intercourse that makes it sinful. In other words many people think if they just use masterbation to work off sexual stress without engaging in any impure thoughts or mental images then masterbation would be o.k. But how many can do that? And that is where the real danger of masterbation comes in, the "enemy" uses (temptation) of this sexual weakness to draw us deeper and deeper into deadlier sin via this act. Many young children begin masterbating to simply empty themselves of sexual stress and soon find themselves fully entrenched in other forms of sinful behavior, i.e. obsessive compulsive thoughts of pedaphilia, multiple partner sexual acts, sexual acts with members of same sex, etc. etc. etc. (etc. being things I do not wish to elaborate on in this forum). Those of you who either began engaging in masterbation at an early age or who now habitually engage in it can certainly attest that all this is true. Therefore, any Christian or person of every firm foundation faith who is attempting to lead a pure life should definately abstain from masterbation. And, one more thought if I may, the sacraments provide abundant supernatural grace to overcome this sinful act, therefore, if you truly desire to overcome this but think it is too hard to do, you should take full advantage of "Confession" and "Holy Eucharist". Soon you will find that the very thought of engaging in this behavior to be most undesirable to even think about, let alone do.

Masturbation is a mortal sin. If you do it you should run, not walk to the nearest priest, rabbi or other spiritual father. Eveyone who does masturbation can tell you that it begins pretty innocently but the more you do it the more you find sex and sexual thoughts taking over your mind and life. The people here who tell you that it is ok to masturbate are the ones who are already sexually "sick". Misery loves company and they want you for themselves or as miserable as they are. DON'T LISTEN! There words come from Satan. The other people who tell you it is ok to masturbate are the ones who derive something from people being sexual, surely you've heard, "sex sells". Well its true. Billions of dollars are made every second of every minute of every hour of every day due to sexual and sexual inuendo. Stay clear! Follow a pure life and pure clean thoughts. Don't become a SLAVE to sex if you want to be happy and at peace. To say nothing of all the sickness and depravity to be derived from sex.

---I think any man who professes to be a spiritual teacher and teaches anyone to be ashamed of their bodies is a liar and hypocrite. They are not dealing with their own fears and issues, and are cowards. The act is not a sin. Denying that you enjoy it and being afraid of it is. God never did want us to live in fear of ourselves. All he wants is us to face our fears and walk with our shadow instead of running away from it. How else can we be truly honest of our own intentions? Sex is supposed to feel this damn good. Sweet as honey. Just don't use it as a weapon against yourself or someone else. The views of the church use to affect me and how I dealt with things, and most of the views I encountered were ways to cover up feelings and run away from the source of our own self loathing. I'm really not affiliated with any organized religion, but I do have people around me that I can talk things over with and hear other lessons learned, and use these examples relating to scripture to find my peace with God and myself.
